Metamask did what?

Hong Kong Metaverse, FC Barcelona NFT outcome, and Metamask Update

GM frens

Hey, and welcome back to another issue of NFToday!

At the time you’re reading this, I’ll be camping!

I assumed I’d have wifi out here on the campgrounds but the connection seems to be a bit more scarce than what I originally anticipated.

I was able to secure a slight once of connection, yet I couldn’t get grammerly going! So I’d like to apologize in advance for any misspellings or grammatical errors.

With that said, let's hop into the news!

In today's newsletter:

  • Hong Kong University is up next!

  • The auction outcome!

  • Metamask Update.

Hong Kong University’s Metaverse!

Following the announcement of the University of Tokyo’s Metaverse college course, the University of Hong Kong (HKUST) announced the development of a new XR Metaverse campus titled metaHKUST!

Unlike many of the game heavy Metaverse platforms currently available, metaHKUST intends to be an all inclusive ecosystem where students, professors, and alumni can collaborate and build!

Aside from keeping up with new technology, HKUST’s new digital world intends to:

  • Build a more immerse experience than current web2 platforms like Zoom.

  • Connecting those who aren’t able to attend the University in person.

  • Use NFT technology to educate users on future use cases

Since Tokyo’s initial announcement, HKUST wasn’t the only school to announce web3 education.

Both Ankara and Bentley University both announced web3 related education programs.

As I said before, what better form of adoption than having the innovative tech be taught in schools!

The Outcome!

Following the highly anticipated FC Barcelona NFT auction, the one-of-a-kind 40 second audiovisual sold for a whopping $693,000.

Alongside the art, the new owner has been granted exclusive benefits and utility such as:

  • Digital Ambassador Title

  • Meet and greets

  • Hospitality Rights

  • And many more “money can’t buy” experiences

All I can say is…that’s a lot of dough.

Metamask does it’s part!

In response to the great number of “set approval” wallet drainers, Metamask has implemented a new update to help prevent everyday users from loosing their on-chain assets!

Now, as opposed to the normal “set approval” warning, users will now be warned that signing  the given contract will give the scammer direct access to digital assets and funds.

As the growing threat of malicious contracts increase, precautions like this will help to bring better protection to those who aren’t super educated!

Overall a great addition from the Metamask team!
