Meta has some nerve doing this...

Meta's outrageous seller fees, Bitcoin's downside slip, and Ethereum Push Notifications!

GM, it's Friday!

Do you remember a few newsletters back when I mentioned that I sold my 3lander?

Welp, I aped back in. He was up for a great price, so I said, "eh, f*ck it.'

He may look a little dopey, but he's still a good-looking fish! Let me know what you think on Twitter!

Was it worth the 1.76 ETH price tag?

In today's newsletter:

🌎 Meta's absurd seller fees!

📈 Bitcoin fell again, are we surprised?

Meta's absurd seller fees:

Meta - Horizon Worlds

Half a year ago, Facebook officially changed its name to Meta. Following the news, Horizon Worlds was released to the public on December 9th, 2021.

Since then, HW had been taking it slow, allowing players to freely roam an endless slew of worlds featuring games, communication hubs, and more! Meta's number one priority has been fixing bugs and fine-tuning the user experience.

A few days ago, Meta officially announced their plans to implement monetization in a new and exciting way!

Selected creators can now attach behaviors that trigger monetization. For example, say I created a Metaverse Casino. Anyone can come and watch, yet to play, you'll be required to interact with a casino cashier. Once triggered, users will be prompted with the option to purchase chips with real money.

Despite the great news, people are furious!

As it currently stands, seller fees are set to equate to a whopping 47.5%!

  • 30% - allocated to the Quest Store (owned by Meta...)

  • 17.5% - allocated to Horizon Worlds (also owned by Meta...)

  • 52.5% - what the creator is left with (this seller got owned by Meta...)

As a company that's publicly criticized Apple's 30% app store fees, it's ironic considering Meta intends to tag on an additional 17.5% to that of what Apple takes.

Many on Twitter have criticized Meta for its lofty fees; one said, "If we pay the 47.5% transaction fee, can Meta at least give us the other half of our bodies?" - @boredape93

I chuckled hehe.

The bad, the good, and the ugly of Bitcoin:

Bitcoin 1hr - Webull

The Bad: Bitcoin had a lovely run-up on the one-hour chart two days ago. Yesterday, the bulls gave up the whole move!

The Good: Bitcoin is currently holding above its current supply zone.

The Ugly: Bitcoin is still down roughly 42% since its all-time high of $69,047.81

Despite Bitcoin's recent fall, the currency's weekly MACD momentum indicator is still showing green.

Let's see where we go from here!

Push Notifications coming to Ethereum?

EPNS - Twitter

Ethereum Push Notification Service or EPNS is a "Protocol for blockchain based notifications that are chain agnostic, platform independent and incentivized!" Here's a quick rundown of what the protocol is all about!

EPNS intends to provide push notifications via web browsers and mobile devices alike, some of which include:

  • Crypto Price Changes

  • ENS Domain Expiration

  • NFT Price Changes

  • NFT Bidding Updates

Through its development, EPNS has made some notable connections throughout the Web3 space that include the likes of:

  • Polygon

  • ENS

  • AAVE

  • Uniswap

EPNS just finished its Series A funding round of $10.1M, valuing the company at $131M.

Prior to research, I had no idea this protocol existed. I'm super excited to check it out as it's a problem I've looked to solve in the past!

Happy Notifying!
