Mirror Protocol Attack, Bitcoin Break and Retest, Gamestop in web3!

GM, it's June!

Hey everyone, and welcome to another issue of NFToday!

Two exciting announcements before we hop into today's issue.

I'm happy to announce that we officially hit our subscriber goal of 850 subs for May. Thank you all so much! Here's to many more sleepless nights of writing!

Second off, my "Top NFT Projects to look out for in June 2022" cheat sheet is LIVE.

The previous doc I created received an OVERWHELMING amount of support and praise; it was a no-brainer to publish another.

Check it out after today's issue, and while you're at it, follow me on Medium ;)

Now, on to the news!

In today's newsletter:

๐ŸŽฎ GameStop takes a stab at Web3

Trending OpenSea collections:

goblintown.wtf - 4.79 ETH

Akumu Dragonz - .65 SOL

Rare Land NFT - .123 ETH

Note: Floor prices of these may or may not be different when reading this!

LUNA does it again!

Mirror Protocol

A Terra Luna validator node exploit allowed an attacker to drain roughly $2M from the mirror protocol.

For those unaware, Mirror is a protocol that allows users to invest in real-world assets like stocks through on-chain price exposure.

Due to the recent rebrand of Terra Luna, an attacker found and took advantage of a newly discovered bug in the pricing oracle of Luna Classic (or Luna 1.0). Essentially, Luna Classic's validators were reporting the price of Luna 2.0 (โ‰ˆ$7.1694) instead of the Luna Classic's actual price (โ‰ˆ$0.0001084).

To simplify this further, LUNC's validators were outdated and unaccounted for when Luna's rebrand took place.

Due to the price discrepancy, the attacker was given the ability to load up on an immense amount of collateral, allowing him to borrow more than typically permitted. Using the borrowed "funds", the attacker had the ability to pull out the platform's real assets.

At the time of writing, most of Mirror's given liquidity pools have already been drained.

Rip Luna = Rip Mirror

Huge S/O to FatManTerra for the quick thread:

Break and retest?

Bitcoin 1hr - Webull

Bitcoin briefly surpassed $32K for the first time in what feels like forever...

Despite the slight retracement, Bitcoin is currently setting up for a textbook bullish break and retest!

For those who aren't practically chart savvy, you can learn more about the breakouts and how they're traded here.

We're poised for a nice green upside if we hold above this $31,400 level!

Something also to add, crypto's fear/green index rose by 5 points from 12 to 17, indicating some clear bullish presence!

Can't wait to see what we hit next!

GameStop cannonballs into Web3:

GameStopNFT

I've hesitated writing about Gamestop's new web3 involvement for a few days now. I was ultimately confused on why the hell GameStop, out of all companies, felt the need to create a crypto wallet.

Yet, the more I scrolled, the more I understood what they were trying to accomplish.

GameStop's target customer is the average gamer who knows absolutely nothing about web3 and its benefits. Upon scrolling to the bottom of GameStop's official NFT Twitter account, you'll be met with a slew of educational web3 content.

Using their expertise and dominance over the gaming industry, GameStop is attempting to recruit a whole new audience into web3.

Hey, adoption is adoption... good shit GameStop!
